April 26th – Solomon Douglas Band Night and Fundraiser for Glenn Crytzer

posted Apr 22, 2013, 6:06 AM by Swing Ottawa

On April 12th, Solomon Douglas, his wife Calico Goodrich and fellow musician and band leader Glenn Crytzer were in a car accident. Fortunately Solomon and Calico escaped with minor injuries, however Glenn Crytzer was not so fortunate and suffered a badly broken arm, which has required surgery and will require extensive physiotherapy to heal.

While Solomon Douglas is performing for us next Friday April 26th, the OSDS is going to pass the hat for donations for Glenn Crytzer’s medical costs. As you can imagine, health care costs in the United States are expensive and musicians don’t typically have generous coverage. Glenn Crytzers’ hospital bill is already upwards of $50,000 and that doesn’t include the surgery or rehabilitation costs, never mind lost income while he is healing.

Please be generous in your support – Glenn Crytzer is a fabulous swing musician and you have undoubtedly been influenced by his music, as it gets played regularly at the OSDS. His creativity and dedication to the swing dance scene and swing dance music are an incredible contribution to Lindy Hop and anything we can do to help him along his way back to making music would be a gesture of respect and hope for his return.

Our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery are with Glenn.
