O-Town Showdown is Almost Here!!!

posted Feb 20, 2015, 11:51 AM by Swing Ottawa
We can't wait until the 3rd annual O-Town Showdown!  O-Town Showdown is an afternoon of lindy hop competitions in Ottawa focusing on great social dance skills, awesome attitude, creativity, and fun!   Swing dancing has a long tradition of friendly competition going all the way back to the Savoy Ballroom in the 1930's, and we're proud to be keeping that spirit alive today.  If you've never been to a swing competition weekend before, they're a great way to get inspired about your dancing, hear great new music, and meet dancers from all over the country!  O-Town Showdown is particularly great for first-timers because all the competitions are open to all levels, there's social dancing in between, and you don't even need to travel!  Whether you’re competing for the first time, the millionth time, or just want to watch, the afternoon is fun and inspiring for everyone.

On top of the competitions, O-Town Showdown features two nights of amazing social dancing to live music with the incredible Boilermaker Jazz Band!  Friday March 6th will be hosted right here at the OSDS, and Saturday March 7th will be hosted by Swing Dynamite in the Glebe Community Centre's Scotton Hall!  As usual, both dances feature an intro lesson and don't require a partner.  Last year's dances were fantastic, with over 200 people attending both nights from all over Ontario, Quebec, and the North-Eastern United States!

If you’d like to register for competitions, buy tickets to the dances, or just find out more about the event, visit  We can’t wait to see you there!

Finally, if you’re interested in volunteering or helping out with the event, we’re currently looking for door volunteers and billeting hosts for out of town guests.  Even if you don't plan on attending the event yourself, hosting billets is a great way to meet dancers from other cities and help out the community!  If you’d like to volunteer or host, just talk to Laura Smith, Adam Feiner, or Bruce ShanOK, or send an email to  Thanks!
